Edward R. Nieuwenhuis Jr., DPM

Dr. Jr. (as he's referred to in the office), graduated from Hope College with a B.S. degree in 1986.  He then went on to receive his DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) degree from the Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in 1990.  He completed his residency in reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle at Illinois Masonic Medical Center, a Level 1 trauma center for the city of Chicago.  During this time, Dr. Nieuwenhuis was instrumental in establishing what is now one of the premier residency training facilities for podiatric foot and ankle surgeons in the country.

  • Joined his father in practice in 1992.  
  • Awarded Top Doctor by his peers as seen in New Jersey Monthly magazine, several years-most current: 2017
  • Awarded Top Doctor by Bergen Magazine, several years-most current: 2017.
  • Awarded the Press Gainey Award For Patient Satisfaction given to doctors that have received an average of at least 95% positive feedback by their patients annually, several years, most current: 2017
  • Dr. Jr. is on staff at The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, NJ where he performs surgery and manages patients on a regular basis.  
  • He also performs surgery at Surgicare of Ridgewood Surgery Center, a state of the art facility located in Ridgewood, NJ, and at Luckow Pavillion, Valley Hospital's Outpatient Surgery Center located in Paramus.
  • Dr. Nieuwenhuis is active in many civic organizations in the area including the Christian Health Care Center and Eastern Christian Children's Retreat.  He also has provided his surgical expertise to many under priviledged children both locally and abroad through medical mission trips with Healing the Children.

During his time in private practice he has developed a reputation as a caring, compassionate, highly qualified physician and surgeon with his patients and peers.  He is an active member in his local community.  Dr. Jr. and his wife are the parents of 5 children and 1 granddaughter.

Edward R. Nieuwenhuis Sr., DPM

Dr. Sr. (as he's called in the office) attended Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He went on to earn his DPM (Doctor of Podiatric Medicine) degree from Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine in 1963.  He completed his residency at St. Luke's and Children's Hospital in Philadelphia, PA in 1964 at which time he began a private practice in Wyckoff.

Since 2009, Dr. Sr. has limited his practice to part-time status keeping busy treating his loyal patients.  He enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife, 4 children, 13 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Edward F. Younghans, DPM

Dr. Younghans was born in New York City and graduated from Iona College and Ramapo College with a B.A. degree in 1976.  He earned his DPM degree from Pennsylvania College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia in 1981.  He completed the Maryland Podiatry Residency Program in 1982 at which time he began his solo practice in Oakland, NJ

A long-time friend of both Dr. Jr. and Dr. Sr., Dr. Younghans joined Foot & Ankle Associates in January 2014.
